Whenever someone asks me about the cover of this month’s VIP Wichita Magazine, I have to be honest with them: I take very little credit for how well it turned out.

Styled by the truly-inimitable Bonnie Bing and modeled by tour-de-force Christa Rude Vazeos, this cover is an act of pure harmony.

Waltzing into Fall

Of course, we shot this series in early October in a year with an abnormally long warm season, so fall colors just weren’t there.  A little splash here and there in post-production gave the images the November tone we were looking for.

Rachel Chinn, a local ballroom dance instructor, got her VIP debut as well.  Feeling very under-the-weather, she still pulled it out and gave us three solid looks for the issue!  Performers know that the show must go on, and I’m so appreciative of that mindset.

The wolf better watch it, this Red Riding Hood already skinned the leopard.

This was also my first time working with Bonnie Bing, and I hope we have a thousand more shoots together – having an art director like her on-set makes even the most chaotic shoots (see the December issue) run smoothly.  It goes without saying that her deep roots in the fashion industry are priceless.

The November issue will be on stands for the next few days, so grab a copy to see where you can get that epic winter coat that’s on the cover!  (Hint: it’s GM Clotheshorse, and from what I hear, you may have a hard time getting your hands on one…they’re going fast!).
