The vast majority of my test shoots are with agency models, but once in awhile, a model catches my attention that I just have to work with. Sidney’s Instagram posts and stories sold me on her, not only from her unique and beautiful look, but from her enthusiasm to model and the ideas for shoots she was always posting. The tipping point was her fascination with 90s supermodels – Cindy Crawford, Gisele, Heidi Klum, etc. – and wanting to make images in their styles. Speaking my language!
I had her come by the studio for her test, and flipped through one of Gisele Bundchen’s books with her. My ever-growing library is a treasure trove of inspiration for my models and myself alike.
I gave her no specifics on what to bring for wardrobe, only that I wanted her to bring things she’d always wanted to shoot in. I love seeing a model’s personality show through in a field where that’s rarely the goal. My editorial nature bleeds over into my fashion work more often than not.
This look is straight off of a Rolling Stone cover, and came from her closet. Well done, Sidney. I hope you find an agency soon, because you could go places!
