First degree murder. Aggravated kidnapping. Aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Floyd Bledsoe spent fifteen years in prison after being convicted of these crimes in 2000, but he never committed any of them.
In January, something happened that I never expected: I got hired on as a staff writer for Fstoppers, a top-tier photography news and education site that I’ve loved for years. A wedding photographer friend (and fellow Fstopper), Levi Keplar, thought I’d be a good addition to the site and suggested I apply. Within hours, I was signing papers. To be a part of such an elite community has been absolutely wild, and I regularly feel like the impostor of the bunch.
It’s no secret that I’m terrible at self-promotion, so I wanted to take a minute to share some of my work as an Fstopper.
Janelle King is a staple of all things Wichita. President of the Douglas Design District, owner of The Workroom, and one of the pioneers of reigniting civic pride here where the rivers meet. Photographing her for VIP Wichita Magazine was an honor – getting to know her while doing so is why I love my work.
Whenever someone asks me about the cover of this month’s VIP Wichita Magazine, I have to be honest with them: I take very little credit for how well it turned out.

Editorial work always comes with its unique set of challenges, and that’s why I love it so, so much. Having your mettle tested in the field is either educational or satisfying…and very often both. Having been commissioned to photograph images of the owners of and current exhibits on display at Harvester Arts, I came prepared for every eventuality.
